We had a long trip ahead of us. We expected about 9-10 hours of driving to get to Atlanta. We were driving a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder, so the trip would be a comfortable drive.
Our morning started out early after a final cup of coffee at CC's. And pleasantly, we were ushered off to Atlanta by some very good friends.
Aside from a wild goose chase at Opelika, Alabama, the trip was rather uneventful. I'm not sure how long we'd been driving, but when we saw the Dairy Queen sign at the Opelika exit, we decided a treat was in order. We followed the Dairy Queen road markers through Opelika, until we found ourselves lost. After driving around for a while, we found our way back to the Interstate, with an unfulfilled craving for a dipped cone, and unpleasant thought or two about the Dairy Queen marketing people.
We arrived at our hotel in Atlanta at about 8:30.
