About LC83
Curiosity about my Appalachian Trail Odyssey has been overwhelming. Initially, it was surprising, and this BLOG was created in large part because of it. Interstingly, as friends began to inquire about the trip, I didn't always know the answers to their questions. These pages reveal answers uncoverer in the introspection that accompanies such an epic life odyssey.
How It All Started
In one breath I might tell you it took 20 years to get to the AT trailhead. In another, I might say it only took 20 minutes. How the mind works is difficult to undestand, especially when it is your own. This section reveals how 20 minutes and one magazine pushed the Lucky Cowboy out onto the trail.
About the Adventure
This section covers the details, the mechanics of hiking the Appalachian Trail. It includes the technology I am employing in the trip, both on the trail and on the web. It also details everything I've done to prepare for the trip, including my equipment list...a major fascination among hikers and observers alike.
About the Trail
Six months ago, I didn't even know the Appalachian Trail existed. Amazingly, I find so many people who know a lot about the AT, some who've hiked along a portion of it. I find that anyone who has lived within 100 miles of the trail know about it. This section provides details about the AT.
About the Lucky Cowboy
Lucky Cowboy is my trail name, an important part of Appalachian Trail and hiker culture. This section covers the notion of trail names and how one goes about getting a trail name, including the amusing story behind mine!
